Hotel Information

Welcome to the South Seas Island Resort, a tropical hideaway on Captiva Island in a beautiful beach community. The resort, approximately 40 miles from the Ft. Myers International Airport (RSW), offers casual elegance with beautiful beaches on the Gulf of Mexico.

Hotel Room Reservations

The Toll Free Reservations number designated for groups is 1-800-282-3402. When making reservations by phone please mention the group name “IFAC 2018 or International Food Additives Council”.  Please Note: Group Cut -Off Date is January 2, 2018.

Automobile Rental

Car rentals are available at the airport, however, it is recommended that car rental reservations be made in advance. A car service runs around $85 to $125 and includes tolls. Taxi service from the airport to the hotel will cost around $110 each way.  A list of the various transportation companies that serve the Island can be found here.

Meeting Registration

The Schedule of Events for the IFAC/Marinalg 2018 Annual Meeting is located here and the meeting registration form is located here. IFAC accepts MasterCard, VISA and American Express. The registration deadline is Monday, January 15, 2018. In the event of cancellation, fees are refundable minus a $50 processing fee until January 15, 2018. No refunds will be given for cancellations after the deadline or for “no shows.” Registration may, however, be transferred to another company representative.

Local Attractions and Weather

At South Seas Island Resort, you’re part of a 330-acre protected wildlife sanctuary, with bottlenose dolphins, West Indian manatees, great egrets, white ibis, and Cuban anole lizards as your neighbors. The resort also has fun activities to help you enjoy it all:

  • Kayak tours through mangrove forests.
  • Dolphin adventures and fishing excursions.
  • Exploring Captiva Island by bicycle or on foot.

Typical weather on Captiva in January ranges around 75° during the day and 58° in the evening. A jacket or sweater should be comfortable, especially in the evening.
